Champeaux is the contemporary Parisian Brasserie imagined by Alain Ducasse and the Ciguë agency. Located opposite the Eglise Saint-Eustache, overlooking the Nelson Mandela garden, Champeaux awaits us once again under the Canopée des Halles.
This modern bistro, with its large, bright 180-cover dining room, is the perfect place to relax and enjoy good food prepared according to the rules of the art. With its industrial ambience, small and large tables, counter and banquettes, there's something for everyone. We love the large central bar facing us, the wall of posters announcing the arrival of a train and the effervescence that animates the place.
At Champeaux, the concept is to enjoy classic brasserie cuisine. So, don't expect the most original gourmet dishes, but good French fare prepared with precision and quality. Whether you're here for a quick bite, an aperitif or a duo menu, the Champeaux is sure to please.
In the kitchen, Chef Jonathan Piaud (since June), who has worked at La Maison du Danemark, Marius, Jeannette in Paris and most recently at Ducasse sur Seine, unveils a menu devised in collaboration with Chef Jacques Maximin that honors classic brasserie cuisine using the finest seasonal produce. " The biggest innovation for a brasserie cuisine is the emphasis on lightness. Less fat, starches and sugar, and lots of vegetables, condiments and spicy sauces," says Jonathan Piaud.
The menu features traditional dishes such as mimosa eggs, browned black pudding, charcuterie and cheese boards, free-range chicken in lemon crapaudine, the famous onion soup, and grilled lean meats in hazelnut butter with julienne vegetables. We love the precision of the cooking, the crunchiness of the fresh vegetables and the flavorful juices.
As for desserts (not too sweet, we love them), the homemade Soufflé takes pride of place (also available in savoury). We fall for the chocolate Soufflé from Manufacture Ducasse, while the originals will opt for the ultra-indulgent pistachio/salted butter caramel version. We also love the delicious figs roasted with blackcurrants, the fromage blanc cake and, of course, the Ducasse chocolate ice cream bowl.
As a reminder, the restaurant has expanded to include a chocolate boutique and a Café Ducasse. Manufacture Ducasse's chocolates are now more accessible, and the Café offers you the chance to stock up on supplies and enjoy Ducasse coffees made to the highest standards by a barrista.
In short, this is a great place to enjoy a break in the heart of Les Halles.
