The article is currently out of date, as the restaurant has changed its style, atmosphere and cuisine. We will update the new concept, after a test of the address, as soon as possible.
Calling all night owls looking for trendy hot spots in Paris! Head to Chez Gala, the festive new restaurant a stone's throw from the Champs-Élysées, to embark on an unprecedented culinary & trendy journey from Wednesday to Saturday from 7.30pm. A veritable oriental abode of Parisian nights, Chez Gala brings back to life with style the grand receptions once held in the desert. Welcome to the 21st-century version of the Arabian Nights!
Take a seat in the midst of an exquisite retro-Oriental décor, enhanced by bushy, pink feather pendants and dominated by a majestic peacock. The atmosphere is subdued, with the only sources of light coming from large, colorful stained-glass windows, lanterns here and there, and candles on every table.
If you look up, you'll see a Berber tent reserved for guests wishing more privacy, and at the far end of the restaurant another alcove offers dining amid Majorelle blue drapes in a very Yves Saint Laurent spirit.
The mystery is at its height when you spot a fortune teller not far away, tucked away in a wall, who will draw your cards for €20. The escape is complete!
2 services, 2 atmospheres - The first service starts at 7:30pm, in an atmosphere more conducive to discussion and a change of scenery. At 10pm, the atmosphere kicks up a notch! DJ sets, dancing, everyone joins the party! And throughout the evening, there's even more entertainment to take you on a journey: live artists playing Maghreb and Oriental melodies on their oud and violin, and Oriental singers and dancers.
For us, the Chez Gala experience begins with the Giia by Gala, the signature cocktail recommended by the hot spot's master bartender, a delicious elixir made with coriander-infused vodka, elderflower liqueur and lychee juice emulsified with aquafaba.
On the gastronomic side, dishes are prepared by Chef Vladimir Rapoport, who has worked in the kitchens of Alain Passard and Jean-François Piège, using exceptional produce, French meats and vegetables sourced mainly from organic farms. With the Entourage Paris and Culture groups, the Chef pays tribute to his Algerian origins in the most beautiful and succulent of ways.
The show continues on the plate! - For the tasting, we opted for a selection of dishes to share, a tradition typical of oriental gastronomy. For starters, we chose the hummus in three colors: magenta (beet & hibiscus), yellow (lemon confit & chili & Iranian black lemon), and green (avocado, mint and coriander), our favorite! For variety, we also tried the Kefta-style lamb & veal brochettes with mint sauce. The verdict: extremely tender, finely seasoned meat to die for!
The dish arrives, the show begins! For us, it was a whole roasted bass with cumin butter, coriander & preserved lemons, which arrived with great fanfare and dancing flames. After the boning demonstration, the fish is served with a cinnamon potato mousse, a divine and surprising combination as light as a cloud. Vegetarians will delight in the meltingly colorful vegetable tagine.
Finally, the apotheosis arrives... Without a doubt, we chose the Chou Paris-Casa with sesame diplomat cream and praline, a pastry nugget in which the textures are in perfect harmony, elevating gourmandise to the highest level! The rose-raspberry macaron for sharing also closes the gustatory show, as tasty as it is generous.
A gourmet escape filled with beauty and mystery on La Plus Belle Avenue du Monde!
The fortune-teller is present on Thursdays and Fridays from 8pm to 10:30pm.
