Opened in July 2023 in the Pernety district of the 14th arrondissement of Paris, Pois Chic is the only restaurant in Paris offering gourmet cuisine centered around the healthiest and most versatile plant protein: the chickpea.
With an original interpretation of dishes combining Middle Eastern and French classics, chef Nimrod Amzalak, formerly of Ferrandi and the famous Levantine restaurant Balagan, has created a menu that takes carnivores, vegetarians and even vegans on a delicious culinary journey.
All dishes are 100% homemade and most are prepared à la minute, including homemade bread served piping hot. The restaurant's drinks menu includes carefully selected craft beers and organic wines that go well with the dishes.
The restaurant, just a few minutes' walk from the Pernety metro station and Gare Montparnasse, has been carefully designed with a warm, ochre-toned decor and offers a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere with jazz music in the background and smiling service.
Some of the dishes have already won a devoted following. Such is the case with eggplant panisse - a chickpea flour galette, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served on a bed of labnea and topped with eggplant pâté and raz el- Hanout roasted tomato salsa.
The same goes for the vollailer, a succulent blend of chicken thigh meat and gizzards with caramelized onions, garlic confit and a secret blend of spices, coated in a creamy hummus.
Regulars will also mention the homemade tahini and pistachio ice cream and choco-chiche (a chocolate fondant made from chickpeas) and served with a red fruit coulis, a 100% vegan and gluten-free dessert.
Pois Chic offers a lunch menu at €19 with a selection of its dishes, as well as an on-the-go takeaway menu at €9 with a hummus pita sandwich, crispy falafel fried to perfection, salad and a spicy pistou special with coriander and green chillies.
