There are people who want to look at life through rose-tinted glasses, but matcha fans are more into looking at it through green-tinted spectacles. Good news, we have got you covered with a spot at the level of your guilty pleasure. Head to rue Volta in Paris 3rd arrondissement to discover Shodai Matcha, the tea house and patisserie giving pride of place to this green tea.
So much that you do not know where to start. Cheesecake, roll, opera cake, crêpe, mochi… here, matcha is available in a dozen pastries. It sometimes pairs raspberry, pecan, and even durian in a mille-crêpes, but it remains at the center of all the attentions. And even the coolest among you can enjoy some matcha-flavored ice cream.
This is also where you can enjoy about a dozen matcha-based drinks. Matcha Latte fans as well as boba-tea fans will be delighted. But other and more surprising recipes – sometimes including cheese and sticky rice – encourage you to push your tasty passion beyond what you have been able to try so far.
As for us, we truly fell in love with the pecan mille-crêpes, a recipe that brings some nice and crunchy hit to a dessert we usually say it lacks of crunch. We also fell for the rolled matcha crêpe stuffed with whipped cream and adzuki beans.
Stop being green with envy, this is what a green heaven looks like!
