Rose Bakery at the Maison de Balzac, the café-tea room and terrace in a bucolic garden

We're off to Passy in the 16th arrondissement to discover the Maison de Balzac, a house that has now been transformed into a museum and was once the home of Honoré de Balzac for 7 years, where the Comédie Humaine was born.

Before or after your visit, or even without a visit, don't forget to stop off at Rose Bakery, a café-tea room that feels like a country house, and which has already delighted us at the Musée de la Vie Romantique.

Resolutely modern, the place combines large light-wood tables, white walls and large picture windows, with a counter displaying the sweets to be discovered.

You can sit inside when the weather's not so good, on the wooden garden tables, or on a deckchair or a garden chair with its own tray. It's up to you to make the most of this relaxing setting and the beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower.

At Rose Bakery, everything is organic and homemade. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday, the spot offers delicious quiches, eggs, salads and dishes that change daily with the seasons. An array of cakes and scones are served throughout the day, accompanied by teas, coffees, chocolate and fresh juices.

There's also a choice of gluten-free cakes, specialty coffees and lattes with a lactose-free option for those with intolerances or allergies.
