Paris features a new gourmet address set on the Left Bank. A few meters from the Place Denfert Rochereau, Choco² has just settled in rue Mouton-Duvernet. Proposing an original concept, this new chocolate factory likely seduces – without any difficulty – cocoa lovers’ taste buds!
Open since this early February 2017, Choco² comes straight out of pâtissier-chocolate maker Jean-Pierre Rodrigues’ imagination.
Trained at culinary school Ferrandi, Jean-Pierre Rodrigues worked for several renown addresses such as Daubos Saint-Louis in Versailles. He also worked alongside big names like Patrick Roger and Pierre Hermé. After being part of Fauchon teams, he creates, in 2012, with Christophe Adam, the famous store L’éclair de Génie, and is entrusted with production manager. Today, he goes solo and opens, for our taste buds’ greatest pleasure, the store CHOCO².
Let’s say it right away, at Choco² everything is… squared! From the cash register to the store windows to the squared stands… make sure you know you’ll see the world shaped like a square once you’re inside.
Without surprise, chocolatey creations are obviously shaped like squares, no matter if they are chocolate candies, slabs and even jars of chocolate spread.
The major items in the store? The chocolate candies. Shaped like a square, these chocolates flecked or colored with a brush hide, under their fine and delicate layer of dark or chocolate milk, several flavors: all in all, 16 varieties are available. We literally fall for the ones filled with salted caramel, orange blossom or the almond/chocolate nib nougatine praline/salt flower without forgetting the one containing a cherry-red chocolate/Morello cherry ganache.
Choco² also offers squared slabs with once again several varieties: the “Carrés Gourmands” and their dry fruit chunks mixed with dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white and vanilla chocolate, the “Carrés Sensation” hiding a praline heart. Special mention to the peanut praline/caramelized peanut chunks/fine layer of salted caramel! Discover the “Carrés Origine” too proudly revealing the aromas of a thoroughly selected cocoa, or the “Carrés free” that are sugar-free.
To extend the pleasure, go for the praline chocolate spread, caramel jars or with dry fruits (almonds, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts) and candied fruits (orangettes, lemon, grapefruit) coated with chocolate obviously.
