Addicted to cocoa? Discover quickly the very original Parisian chocolate factory of the artisan chocolate maker Jean-Pierre Rodrigues. Named Choco², this new gourmet address puts chocolate... in a square!

Paris has a new gourmet address on the Left Bank. Just a few meters from Place Denfert Rochereau, Choco² has taken up residence on rue Mouton-Duvernet. Offering an original concept, this highly original chocolate shop is sure to seduce - without any difficulty - the taste buds of cocoa lovers!

Open since early February 2017, Choco au Carré comes straight from the imagination of pastry chef-chocolatier Jean-Pierre Rodrigues.

Trained at the Ferrandi culinary school, Jean-Pierre Rodrigues has worked at a number of renowned addresses, including Daubos Saint-Louis in Versailles. He has also worked alongside great names such as Patrick Roger and Pierre Hermé. After joining the Fauchon team, in 2012 he and Christophe Adam created the famous l'Éclair de Génie brand, for which he holds the position of production manager. Today, he's going solo, opening the CHOCO² boutique to the delight of our taste buds.

Let's face it, at Choco², everything is... square! From the cash register to the window to the cubic stalls... get ready to see the world as a square as soon as you walk through the door.

Unsurprisingly, the chocolate creations are all square-shaped, whether chocolate bonbons, bars or even jars of spreads.

The store's must-haves? Chocolate bonbons. Cubic in shape, these chocolates, speckled or colored with a brush, conceal several flavors under their fine, delicate layer of dark or milk chocolate; a total of 16 varieties are on offer. We literally fall for the ones filled with salted butter caramel, orange blossom or almond praline / cocoa nougatine / fleur de sel, not forgetting the one covering a redcurrant / Morello cherry chocolate ganache.

Choco² also offers its square tablets, again in several varieties: " Carrés gourmands " with pieces of dried fruit mixed with dark, milk or white vanilla chocolate, and " Carrés Sensation " concealing a heart of praline. Special mention for the peanut praline / caramelized peanut chips / thin layer of caramel fleur de sel! Discover also the " Carrés Origine ", proudly unveiling the aromas of carefully selected cocoa, or the sugar-free " Carrés Free ".

To prolong the pleasure, let yourself be tempted by praline, caramel or dried fruit spreads(almonds, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts) and candied fruit (oranges, lemon, grapefruit) coated, of course, with chocolate.

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
