Addicted to cocoa? Discover quickly the very original Parisian chocolate factory of the artisan chocolate maker Jean-Pierre Rodrigues. Named Choco², this new gourmet address puts chocolate... in a square!

Paris is equipped with a new gourmet address located on the Left Bank. A few meters from the Place Denfert Rochereau, Choco² has taken up residence on rue Mouton-Duvernet. Offering an original concept, this very original chocolate shop is likely to seduce - without any difficulty - the taste buds of the cocoa lovers!

Opened since the beginning of February 2017, Choco au Carré comes straight from the imagination of pastry chef-chocolatier Jean-Pierre Rodrigues.

Trained at the Ferrandi culinary school, Jean-Pierre Rodrigues has passed through several renowned addresses such as Daubos Saint-Louis, in Versailles. He has also worked alongside great names such as Patrick Roger and Pierre Hermé. After joining the Fauchon teams, he created in 2012, with Christophe Adam, the famous brand l'Éclair de Génie for which he holds the position of production manager. Today, he launches himself solo and opens, for the greatest pleasure of our taste buds, the CHOCO² store.

Let us say it at once, at Choco², everything is... square! From the cash register to the window, to the cubic stalls... get ready to see the world in square once you enter.

Not surprisingly, the chocolate creations are obviously shaped like squares, whether they are chocolate candies, bars or even jars of spreads.

The store's must-haves? The chocolate candies. With their cubic shape, these chocolates, speckled or colored with a brush, hide, under their thin and delicate layer of dark chocolate or milk chocolate, several flavors; 16 varieties are offered in total. We literally fall for those filled with salted butter caramel, orange blossom or almond praline / cocoa nougatine / fleur de sel without forgetting the one covering a redcurrant / Morello cherry chocolate ganache.

Choco² also proposes its square tablets with, there still, several varieties: the " Carrés gourmands " and their pieces of dried fruits mixed with dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate vanilla, the " Carrés Sensation " hiding a heart of praline. Special mention for the peanut praline / caramelized peanut chips / thin layer of caramel fleur de sel! Discover also the " Carrés Origine " proudly revealing the flavors of a carefully selected cocoa, or the " Carrés Free ", without sugar.

To prolong the pleasure, let yourself be tempted by praline spreads, caramel spreads or spreads with dried fruits (almonds, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts) and candied fruits (oranges, lemon, grapefruit) coated, of course, with chocolate.

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
