Gianni – the new pizzeria in Paris 18th arrondissement – will likely surprise you. In addition to enjoying delicious pizzas and very tasty wines, enjoy the mini stage to discover young artists or maybe you can improvise yourself as a singer or a poet for a night. Authentic and warm atmosphere!
On the menu, pizzas, obviously, with thin dough and hearty filling. I chose the Diablo (€10) with delicious chorizo. Note that pizza prices are very affordable, and almost unbeatable, a Margherita for €8.50 isn’t something you want to miss!
I also recommend the chef’s secret specialty, that’s not on the menu, but he’ll be happy to make you some: the pizzaiolo’s baguette. A pizza filled with tomatoes, mozzarella and Roquefort cheese and then rolled and baked, then, he adds arugula, Param ham and cherry tomatoes. A delight you can’t find anywhere else!
Since Gianni took over the cellar of the former restaurant (the Cochon Gaulois), you can enjoy exquisite French wines we rarely find in a pizzeria and I’ve tasted a delicious red Sancerre. It was light and very fruity. The cellar will slowly be filled with nice Italian wines picked up by Gianni.
Inside the restaurant, we can also find a mini stage waiting for us to sing, slam or declare whatever you want. It’s free and open to all. you can tell a funny story (or not so funny), declare your love or try your new song. One rule, no mic for talking to make sure the rooms really listens what you have to say. The program is currently going with local artists, but the point of this stage is to remain open to all patrons!
To dine, several atmospheres are possible, a few tables for two in a quiet place, on the terrace, as well as a large and high table upstairs, perfect to come with your tribe or your friends.
As a matter of fact, Gianni’s watchword is conviviality. Kid-friendly, the restaurant offers children to make their own pizzas, guided by the benevolent chef.
Starting from 5 p.m., Zzapi Hours are on and for €10 you can get a drink (glass of wine, beer or soda) and a platter of mini pizzas. Perfect with the free Wi-Fi for a business meeting in the late afternoon!
Originally coming from Sardinia where he created several restaurants, Gianni Paoli then went to Corsica where he kept working in the food industry. It’s by chance, during a trip to Paris, that he seeds this restaurant in the heart of the 18th arrondissement and decides to settle in. For the record, this hedonist and in love with singing is wed to singer Nathalie Cardone mostly famous for her hit "Hasta Siempre" in tribute to Che Guevara. His wife recording her third album in Paris, he chose to stay with her and start his Parisian adventure.
A story about love, music and pizzas, then! And as you can read on Gianni’s t-shirt: don’t look for love, look for pizza!
