Food-loving friends, we’ve found a top restaurant in Paris 11th arrondissement and it has just opened. Le Beslay, it’s its little name, is a warm restaurant where we enjoy delicious dishes.
The menu, thought up by Italian chef Antonella Finelli, is short but tantalizing. 3 starters to share (ricotta and piquillos on farmhouse bread; deviled egg with wasabi, gorgonzola, pear and walnuts bruschetta), 3 salads (Thai beef, kitachari, melon), 3 starters, 5 main courses and 5 desserts. As minimalist as we like.
As a starter, we choose an Andalusian cucumber, tomato and red bell pepper gazpacho (€9), a super fresh wild sea bass carpaccio (€15) plated like an impressionist painting and served with fresh raspberries and green apples to bring some peps; or the very soft marinated squid salad (€10) served with potatoes and fresh ginger that shakes up the whole thing!
Moving on to main courses, once again, we’re drooling. European blue lobster risotto (€29), low-temperature cooked cod loin (€20) and its sweet mashed potatoes, Italian chards and coconut milk sauce, organic beef filet, surprise potato, scented veal juice with Timut pepper (€29)… But it’s the super free-range guinea fowl supreme (€17) that eyes at us, super soft, with surprising sides which are roasted melon and watermelon, crispy zucchinis and a pesto verde so good we even wiped our plate. We also enjoy the veal tartare from Limousin, avocado, arugula and parmesan (€18); just what we needed for this warm summer evening!
As a dessert, a “merveilleux” with strawberries and verbena (€10) topped with rhubarb and a very lightly sweetened whipped cream and covering an Italian meringue; and a semi-cooked chocolate cake (€9) will come to satisfy your taste buds even more.
Here, the most important things are fresh and tasty produces, thoroughly worked and classic recipes skillfully revisited. A squid salad? Okay but with lots of fresh ginger! A sea bass carpaccio? Okay but with strawberries to bring a bit our sourness! A veal tartare? Well then but topped with beautiful slices of avocado for the sweet and gourmet side! Guinea fowl? Alright but served with roasted and juicy summer fruits!
Don’t overthink and give a go to Le Beslay experience, your little taste buds will be thankful. Anyway, with all these smells that come out of the kitchen and the plates already on the tables, if you walk by the restaurant, you won’t resist!
