True Christmas village, La Défense Christmas Market will not return for its 26th edition in 2020. Because of the health context, this year, none of the dozens of Christmas cabins will come to the Parvis de la Défense.
La Défense Christmas Market, one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) and most beautiful Christmas Market in the Ile-de-France region, will not return in 2020. Like the Tuileries Christmas market, La Défense market cancels its 26th edition because of the health context.
"Despite the will of Paris La Défense and Codecom - organizing the Christmas market - to hold the expected event, the new lockdown made it impossible to do it. Around one million visitors usually come to the biggest Christmas market in Île-de-France.
For several months, Paris La Défense and Codecom have been working with the services of the Hauts-de-Seine Prefecture to adapt the Christmas market to the different health restrictions and support the event sector seriously impacted by the crisis. The announcement of the new lockdown by the French President got the better of the edition 2020 of the market.
This is a hard blow for the Codecom company generating about 40% of its income during this event, and the business area, which economic and image fallout are many thanks to the event.
Paris La Défense Market is:
- a million yearly visitors
- 200 cabins and 250 exhibitions covering 13,000sqm
- an unmissable event since 1995 (2020 would have been the 26th edition)
Last year, for about six weeks, La Défense square accommodated La Défense Christmas village that covers over 13,000 sqm. In addition to the 350 wooden cabins catching your eyes with their numerous presents ideas, 400 sqm of festive decorations and a whole range of various dishes and restaurants welcomed you with open arms.
