The 2026 Christmas markets are gearing up for a return to Paris and the Île-de-France region. From the Tuileries (1st arrondissement) to the La Défense esplanade (92), via the Basilica of Saint-Denis (93) and the medieval town of Provins (77), the first dates have been announced for the winter of 2026-2027.
As Christmas approaches, the streets of the capital light up, the shop windows of the big department stores come to life, and the chalets reclaim the squares and gardens.

You’ve got the sprawling village markets that feel like a fairground, the little neighborhood spots where you chat with the craftsmen, and those that set up beneath a monument, with centuries of history as a backdrop.
We've also developed a few good habits there. The Tuileries and La Défense markets get mobbed on weekends, so we prefer to go during the week. We leave with handcrafted gifts instead of trinkets, and we don't hesitate to venture outside Paris to villages like Janvry, in Essonne.

This winter, a long-awaited return is on the calendar: the Champs-Élysées Christmas Market, back after nearly ten years away. Here’s where things stand on the events already announced. The lineup will grow as organizers confirm new details.
The Christmas season kicks off in mid‑November. The La Défense Christmas Market opens first on November 12, 2026, followed two days later by the Tuileries Market on November 14.
The Champs-Élysées opens on November 22, Boulogne-Billancourt on the 25th, and Notre-Dame on the 26th. Most of the major markets stay open through the year’s end, with several extending into the first days of January 2027.
