The Monnaie de Paris takes part again in European Heritage Days. For this edition 2019, it expects you on September 21 and 22, 2019 with a program full of discoveries around this years’ theme: “Arts and entertainments”.

Visiting the museum to discover the transformation of materials, know-how, crafts and patrimonial collections; engraving and direct carving demonstrations.

“Chic and practical, the art of the purse” exhibition about the use of the purse from the Middle-Ages to today and its evolutions. From materials (scales, wood, ivory, mother-of-pearl, shell, leather…) and their origins (France, Austria, England, Italy, Russia...), over 300 pieces are displayed around 6 chapters in this exhibition.

Tour with a curator of the “Chic and practical, the art of the purse” exhibition on Saturday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. / Sunday: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tour of the Monnaie, a building made in 1775 by Jacques Denis Antoines. Visitors can take the honor staircase leading to the Salon Dupré, a former reception lounge and discover the whole richness of its decors.

Historical reenactment in the courtyard. Thanks to immersive drama sketches, visitors can experience the inauguration of the Monnaie de Paris in 1775 with king Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette!
