Coronavirus: a scientific committee at the Elysée Palace

French President Emmanuel Macron announces to create a scientific committee at the Elysée Palace this Tuesday March 24th, 2020 in order to help the government to fight against the coronavirus epidemic.

Health emergency has been claimed, confinement regulations are growing harder and the medical staff is trying everything to fight against the coronavirus epidemic. In order to overcome the health crisis, the French government multiplies measures on two battlefields created by the apparition of COVID-19: health and economy.

This Tuesday March 24th, 2020, a scientific committee has arrived at the Elysée. The CAREComité Analyse Recherche et Expertise [Analysis, Research and Expertise Committee] – includes 12 doctors and searchers who have been entrusted with helping the government and counselling them as of the measures to take, diagnostic methods and the follow-up of the evolution of coronavirus on French soil. Running this committee, virologist Françoise Barré-Sanoussi who also took part in the discovery of the AIDS virus.

In a tweet, Head of State Emmanuel Macron has announced that “it’s thanks to science and medicine that we will win over the virus. Today, I gather our best searchers to progress on diagnostics and treatments. Our research efforts are fully working in the fight against COVID-19”.
