While Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo has announced to give 2.2 million cloth facemasks from mid-May and you can but protective masks in tobacco stores starting from May 4, many people are wondering how to get those famous non-surgical facemasks while waiting to be given one.
An African fabric and pagne store in Paris has decided to help inhabitants amid this health crisis. Its name? Barakatou. Set in Paris 18th arrondissement, it’s not the first time the store does so. This store has already distributed 400 masks to police officers, firefighters and paramedics.
Starting from Monday April 27, 2020, Barakatou will take care of protecting people by giving 500 reusable facemasks made of African wax prints.
“Our business is at a standstill since the confinement has started, so, we have decided to do our bit and help our fellow citizens in these difficult times” store manager Musa Faty told Le Parisien.
So, how can you get one of the 500 masks? The free distribution will take place respecting safety measures, from April 27 to May 11, from Monday to Friday, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. First come first serve.
And for latecomers who wouldn’t be able to get one? Manager Musa Faty says for Le Parisien that the store will “create some for free with fabric clients would bring”.
