White Night - Nuit Blanche 2018 in Paris: the guide in Paris

For over 15 years, the White Night - Nuit Blanche - rocks Paris. In 2018, the event will take place on October 6 and we already know who's entrusted with the show! For this 17th edition, Anne Hildago entrsuted the night of art to art critic and Universcience art director Gaël Charbau. The promise of a unique edition with the ambition of creating the meeting with the public and revisiting Paris most beautiful monuments!

As it happens every year, Parisians and tourists are all invited to take over public space on the first Saturday of October.

The Nuit Blanche 2018
is planned for October 6, 2018. As the sun goes down Parisians and tourists have an encounter with art! For this new edition, 3 unparalleled tours have been thought up and they all are related to the capital’s emblematic sights so you can see works and attend performances by artists from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Everything has been organized to make it easier to get around on White Night. In addition to night transports to come home safely, the STIF – the transport organization authority controlling the Paris public transport – provides transports free of charge throughout the whole night and several restaurants will remain open all night long.

For the White Night 2018, 4 constellations are planned:

  • Constellation des Invalides:
The Constellation des Invalides will connect the Musée de l’Armée, the Invalides basement (materializing the underground “Course du Soleil” by Félicie d’Estienne d’Orves) to the Grand Palais, the Petit Palais and the Palais de la Découverte without forgetting the Pont Alexandre III.

The course of the Nuit Blanche will reach the Champs-Elysées, in the Espace Cardin/Théâtre de la Ville where the public will discover Jamila Johnson Small’s choreographic projects.

All along the Super Kilomètre, the White Night will offer – among others – sport revisited by artists, fooding, art happenings and various events open to all.

  • Constellation de l’Île Saint Louis:
Many things are about to happen on the Île Saint Louis. The White Night offers a unique stroll on the Île Saint Louis, away from the real world, by Edgar Sarin and Mateo Revillo.

It’s the path of the unexpected, works nestled in secret places, a Paris made of narrow streets and bridges, intrigues from the Middle-Age to today’s new relationships kept between art, science and commerce.

The Collège des Bernardins welcomes Abdelkader Benchamma. The tour will continue at the City Hall after hitting the Cité des Arts to wrap up around the Halles.
  • Constellation de la Villette:
The White Night 2018 will shine a spotlight on the entire Parc de la Villette the one designed in 1983 by Bernard Tschumi as a real testing ground. Music will be given pride of place in several places, as well as a program for young people will be held at the Cité des Enfants in Little Villette.

It’s about the whole Parc de la Villette and the diversity of these cultural offerings will be offered for free to the public, from the Philharmonie to the south of the park and up to the Cité des Sciences, in the north that will especially welcome an extraterrestrial geyser designed by Fabien Léaustic.
  • Constellation de la Porte Dorée:
As a place never thought about for the White Night, the Porte Dorée will become a stroll at the outskirts of the city. This constellation will take you to a rediscovery of the Palais de la Porte Dorée, then, the tour will reach the banks of the Lac Daumesnil up to the Parc Zoologique de Paris that will offer to the public a totally unique experience!

If there are lots to see, we have the whole night, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. to take over the Parisian space, you only have to make your choice (or not)!
