Once you walked through the impressive door in rue Saint-Honoré, here we are on the terrace of the Bar 8 of the Mandarin Oriental, a genuine green setting in the heart of bustling Paris. In the garden of this luxury hotel, Christophe Gautrand set up his installation The Red Garden.
This artistic experience combines plants and Japanese binding art, the shibari. Dozens of red ropes support the trunk of a plane tree, suspended above the garden mirror water. An artwork evoking both strength and subtle delicateness and that Christophe Gautrand sees as a bridge between Orient and the Occident.
Imagined for the gin brand, Tranquerey, and the Paris Design Week, The Red Garden is completed with a list of five cocktails based on gin and available until September 16, end date of the installation. Let’s start with the Taimu and the Shinjuku Street, two strong but subtle cocktails that we take the time to sip. The Tokoïte Julep and the Tengoku are very fresh and fruity, perfect for a hot summer evening. And of course, they look as good as they taste!
We only reproach the staff for a slow service, but the welcome is flawless! In any case, treat yourself with a wonderful night discovering Christophe Gautrand’s surprising installation and enjoying limited edition cocktails.
