The Palace of Versailles has been asleep since March 13, 2020. One of the most visited monuments in France has had to shut because for the coronavirus epidemic that hit the country. 55 days of lockdown later, the country starts exiting containment and on May 28, 2020, Edouard Philippe announces expected dates: France’s monuments and museums can reopen from June 2, 2020 on the condition they respect health protocol.
An authorization that also applies to cultural places set in orange areas including the Île-de-France region. After this announcement, we are all looking to the Sun King’s palace as they have have announced to reopen on June 6. Let's enjoy the palace, its museum, its park and the famous Trianon Estate and the famous Queen's House within a magnificent lush garden.
On the occasion, chief gardener at the Palace of Versailles Alain Baraton says everything is ready for this reopening. He says on FranceInfo: "Everything has been mowed and taken care of [...] We must replant flowers and clean tools as well. But on June 6th, everything will be spotless to welcome visitors". Anyway, make the most of it to go and discover the admirable tree tour unveiling 30 exceptional trees in the estate.
In Île-de-France, other castles and palaces have already reopened such as Breteuil, others have also reopened their parks and gardens such as the château de Fontainebleau.
