The village of Plaisance is aptly named. Its many streets are perfect for a Sunday’s afternoon walk. By the way, you’ll notice it, it’s the favorite area for many couples with children playing in front of the area’s colorful detached house.
Mostly reserved for pedestrians, streets and dead-ends are green and filled with flowers, and it feels good to live there. Many artists’ studios have been set in in order to enjoy how quiet the place is.
You really shouldn’t miss the rue des Thermophyles, set in the Cité Bauer, the most beautiful street of the area. Extremely filled with flowers in spring, it’s a must-seen. Colorful wisterias cover the houses’ walls challenging their beauty. Have a look at the house number 19 on rue des Thermophyles, a lovely gate full of hearts expects you.
Next to the Plaisance neighborhood lays the Petit-Monrouge area. Why not continuing your village of Paris 14th arrondissement lovely villages this way? The Petit-Montrouge is absolutely charming with its narrow, cobbled streets reserved for pedestrians, and its lovely decorated houses and their gardens. There’s a reason why many artists such as actor Patrick Dewaere lived there. The latter will even take his own life in his house set on impasse du Moulin-Vert.
The Petit-Montrouge neighborhood features a true architectural richness. From one street to another, houses completely change of style. Wonderful discoveries ahead for architecture fans!
Montsouris is obviously a big and beautiful rolling park, but it’s also a lovely neighborhood with funny looks set all around the park. Some houses are built like small chalets while others in an Art Déco or Art Nouveau style. Most of them are covered in ivy and greenery.
Many artists lived there. Georges Braques for instance. Other artists even imagined some of the houses such as Le Corbusier and Gilles Buisson. A historic, artistic and architectural richness you don’t want to miss.
