A brand-new Christmas Market is coming this year, from November 27 to December 31, 2017 in Les Halles neighborhood, a stone’s throw from the Canopée. After 3 months of rough negotiations between the District hall of the 1st arrondissement, the prefecture and the firefighters, it’s now a sure thing: Les Halles Christmas Market opens this Monday.
The market promoter and organizer, Franck Maës, completed a genuine assault course to get all the licenses in order to open this new Christmas Market promising to be a very enchanting one. Les Halles Christmas Market then becomes the major market in Paris since the Champs-Elysées market won’t be renewed this year (bar sudden developments).
Set all around the famous Fontaine des Innocents in Paris 1st arrondissement, this market features 70 wooden cabins. A fire trees forest, a giant bauble and animations for children with Santa Claus’ house are a promise.
But the key question is, what are we gonna find? We’ve been promised to find quality with local products and world’s crafts. Exhibitors have been thoroughly selected, aiming at offering a quality Christmas Market. Good riddance to cheap made in China products. Nicolas Martin-Lalande who is Jean-François Legaret’s deputy district mayor entrusted with public space, even declares to chase Champs-Elysées Market failed candidates in order not to offer low bracket items.
To bring this Christmas Market to life, no need to say that security has been a hot topic. Anti-break-through barriers all around the venue, security guards at the five exits, anti-ramming-car concrete block…, nothing has been left to chance to make this market a true secured success.
In short, here’s a new Christmas Market we’re eager to discover and where it’ll feel good to have a walk and experience the Christmas spirit.
