After the felines and the monkeys, the Brie region in Seine-et-Marne is taking on aSouth American look. The fauna of this continent awaits you at Parrot World, the immersive animal park in Crécy-la-Chapelle, from February 3, 2023 for a new season!
Created by the Parrot Wildlife Foundation(foundation for the conservation and reproduction of endangered psittacines), Parrot World brings together animals from theAmazon and Patagonia for an immersive visit, in a setting close to the natural habitat of these species.
The program includes encounters with jaguars, penguins, otters, guacanos, rheas and more than 500 colorful birds, ibises, parrots and flamingos. The parrots(macaws, amazons and conures) are gathered in a giant aviary: one of the largest in Europe, no less!
This year, some new faces are now part of the Parrot World residents: among them, Bennett's Wallabies, Chaco peccaries, ferrets, as well as a new baby female alpaca (Prune): they were all born in the park in the last few months. Highland cows (long-haired) will join the park around mid-April, as well as about sixty Gabon Grey parrots.
In addition to the usual activities, for its 2023 season Parrot World is offering a new activity, to feed the Humboldt penguins: an opportunity to discover the secrets of these animals and their habitat!
Every day, the public can attend various educational activities, including the feeding of the animals. But be careful, no wise parrots on bicycles or flag-pullers here. And, for those who want to extend the experience, Parrot World offers five lodges to spend the night close to the animals - two of which are facing the jaguars . In terms of entertainment, you are invited to become animal caretakers for half a day! This is an opportunity to see the animals up close and learn more about their environment, as well as about the job of animal caretaker.
For the youngest visitors, there is even a children's ranch with dwarf goats, alpacas and other Cameroonian sheep. These domestic animals are the only ones that the public can touch and feed.
A playground of 1,000 m² with slides and monkey bridges is waiting for visitors.
However, please note that the park is in full sun and that shade is quite rare. Hats, sunscreen and sunglasses are a must for a summer visit.
Under the giant aviary, the capybaras peacefully enjoy a gigantic space with pink flamingos and parrots. Outside, rheas lie in the grass while Humboldt penguins have taken up residence in the largest enclosure in Europe, an immersive space where the public can walk around and with nesting boxes for breeding.
This is a big change for the small town of Crécy-la-Chapelle (a little over 4,200 inhabitants), located about 30 minutes from Paris, 40 kilometers away and accessible by car via theA4 or by the transilien from the Gare de l'Est.
Born last April, the two male jaguars, one all black and the other spotted, will blow their first candle on the weekend of Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd April 2023! So, their caretaker Eric Vignot will be present during these two days to exchange with the visitors, creative workshops are on the program for the children, without forgetting the manufacture of masks, colorings on the topic of the jaguars and the stand of make-up! On Saturday, at 2:30 pm, you can even see the caretakers offering the two jaguars a birthday cake in the form of a cake, while on Sunday, it's time for presents!
Like every year, Parrot World is organizing a big egg hunt during the Easter weekend and is also offering workshops for children.
From April 22 to May 8, Parrot World offers activities including coloring, origami and face painting workshops for children.
