Walking around Paris and the Île-de-France region with children, the educational farms so

When out and about in Paris and the Ile-de-France region with the kids, educational farms are the must-do outings (at least once) for the whole family. More often than not, you'll come across chickens, pigs, sheep, goats and sometimes even cows or horses. NearIsles-les-Meldeuses, in Seine-et-Marne, you won't find the "traditional" farm animals, but rather llamas, kangaroos and other exotic animals at Edentera, an exotic animal farm.

This unusual educational farm was created in 2006 by Françoise Coulet, and if the farm has no residents categorized as pets, it's because the park respects the Washington Convention, which aims to limit the disappearance of wild animal species from our planet, and respects all the conditions necessary for the animals to flourish and live in the best possible conditions.

At Edentera, you can discover the park's many species: wallabies, adorable little kangaroos, raccoons, llamas, blue peacocks, Indian spice pigs and crowned cranes. Then take a tour of the vivarium, home to snakes, lizards, iguanas, tarantulas, turtles, fish... With animals you don't come across every day, like the impressive python or the famous boa constrictor!

What's more, Edentera offers training courses if you're thinking of buying a new "non-domestic" exotic pet (snakes, iguanas...), so you can learn everything you need to know to welcome your new pet into your home in the best possible way, and above all, to avoid taking any risks, for you or for your pet. Apprentice animal care courses are also organized during each school vacation period.

If you'd like to discoverEdentera's exotic educational farm, it's open every morning from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon, and one Sunday a month (from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.) for special days when you can feed the snakes and take part in other activities. If you'd like to come by public transport, you can, as the farm is just a 3-minute walk from the Isles-les-Meldeuses train station, served by line P of the Transilien, departing from the Gare de l'Est. An unusual outing to enjoy with the whole family in the Seine-et-Marne department!
