We tested it and here’s what we think: the Isle-Adam Beach, in Val-d'Oise (95), less than 30 km from Paris, is truly worth a day with your feet in the sand. Regarded as France’s largest river beach, it unfolds two pools, its slides and its stretch of fine sand just steps from L'Isle-Adam station. For the Summer 2026, the site is reopening gradually: pedalo boats, paddleboards and mini-golf are back in service from Friday, May 8, only on weekends and public holidays from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The beach itself opens on weekends from June 6, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, before moving to a daily schedule from Wednesday, July 1 to Monday, August 31, always 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (ticket offices close at 6:00 PM).
What draws you in at first is the place’s spirit (and its cleanliness). The beach of L'Isle-Adam takes off in the interwar period when Henri Supplice spotted the potential of the Oise riverbank for swimming, in a setting remarkably close to the train station. In 1918, under the guidance of architect Eugène Du Pinet (1879-1954), he envisioned a true seaside resort complete with around fifty cabines, slides, diving boards, cascades, a restaurant, and flower-filled gardens. A bandstand even hosts, every Sunday and on public holidays of the high season, symphonic works. The town of L'Isle-Adam became the owner of the facilities on July 3, 1981. Today, with its cabins renovated in 2015 and its two pools (one ringed by fine sand), the site retains its retro charm.
Beyond swimming, the site turns into a small outdoor recreation hub, with a shaded picnic area perfect for a midday break. You’ll find the following:
As for the hours, the beach pool closes at 6:45 p.m., the splash zone runs from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., then from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; the slides operate from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., then from 1:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.; and the water games stay open until 6:30 p.m. The mini-golf is open from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. before June 6, and from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. thereafter (last round at 6:00 p.m.). Meanwhile, boat trips, pedal boats and stand-up paddles take their final departures at 6:00 p.m.
For non-residents, admission is 21 euros at full price (ages 14 and up), 12 euros for ages 5–13, and free for under 5, with a family pass of 50 euros covering two adults and two children under 14. Residents of the Community of Communes of the Valley of the Oise and the Three Forests, as well as Champagne-sur-Oise and Nesles-la-Vallée, enjoy reduced rates (10 euros for adults, 6 euros for children) upon presenting proof of residence and an identity document.
Specific rates apply for people with disabilities and for Adhérent cardholders. On the activity side, plan for 8€ for mini-golf, 15€ for a two-seat pedal boat (20€ for four seats) or 15€ for a two-seat canoe or paddleboard, plus lounge chair rental (8€), a parasol (5€), a private cabin (8€) or a locker (3€). A few practical notes before you go: only traditional swimwear is allowed in the pools (board shorts are prohibited), children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult, and dogs, barbecues, eating and smoking near the pools are not allowed.
This spot comes highly recommended for families, groups of friends, and anyone craving a full day of swimming and outdoor play without straying far from Paris. The mix of supervised swimming, water activities, and seaside heritage makes it a complete outing, ideal on a hot day. To extend the getaway, take the chance to explore L'Isle-Adam, the green gem of Val-d'Oise just 25 km from Paris, or enjoy a tasty break with the all-you-can-eat brunch barbecue at Le Piaf, not far away. All the details can be found on the official site of the town of L'Isle-Adam.
