The rendezvous of the été in the capital not to be missed is definitely Paris Plages: with its various spots to sunbathe and enjoy the free activities, it’s the must-visit place to come with family, friends or solo to take a workout class, chill, read, or swim...
Over at the Bassin de la Villette, Paris Plages offers a superb lineup all through the summer break, the summer holidays, from July 4 to August 30, 2026: pedal boats and kayaks at the water sports base, outdoor swimming for free, dance classes every evening, free fitness activities, ludothèque and open-air library... plus a trampoline, carousel, slides, a zip line, and more. In short, for an outdoor afternoon, a family outing with a picnic, or a gentle stroll, Paris Plages is the place to be all summer long in 2026! Note that the quays along the Seine and Loire are open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
This year, 2026, the Paris Plages edition puts the United States in the spotlight, to mark the United States’ 250th Independence Day.
Toilets, a security/rescue center and a national police center will be set up on the site to ensure real comfort during this family outing, which should delight young and old alike!
