Following the Petite Ceinture line in Paris 17th arrondissement, enjoy a small and bucolic stroll surrounded by rose bushes and climbing plants, within walking distance from the Porte Maillot.

Have you heard about the Petite Ceinture? This former 32-km railway line now covered in wilderness completes a loop at the ends of the city and provides a lot of quiet and timeless strolls. In Paris 17th arrondissement, the Promenade Pereire is set on the former railway line between the Porte Maillot and rue de Tocqueville, along the Boulevard Pereire. Let us go!

Like the Coulée Verte – this straight wild stretch – takes us to a parallel world in the heart of the city between rose bushes, creepers and flowered trees in spring and summer. This stroll is divided into several portions with different vibes, between which you have to return to the civilization to move to the next one. Let us start our journey (for less than one hour), rue de Tocqueville, and climb down stairs to join the Petite Ceinture.

You will meet dogs and their owners looking for a quiet place, birds and insects, a whole new biodiversity where nature takes her rights back. The stroll is enjoyable, to the sound of birds chirping rather than cars, thanks to the lush wilderness absorbing noises. After walking through a tunnel, it is time to go out to get to the next stop of the strolls, a few meters further, after roundabouts. Good to know: several tennis courts are available on the boulevard!

Continue from the Place du Maréchal Juin, right by the Pereire metro station. And here are the famous rose bushes, blooming when it is the season! In the summer, there are still lots of flowers to enjoy under the plant arches, the perfect place to read a book, have a picnic or simply enjoy nature in the city. Although there are no longer rails, a board pays tribute to Emile and Isaac Pereire, parliamentarians at the origin of lots of railways in the 19th century, as the Ligne d’Auteuil former rail reminds us underneath our feet.

All the way up to the Porte Maillot, switch between playgrounds, ping-pong tables open to all and small corners of heaven, under tall trees and pergolas. It has it all to enjoy the colors of roses, from orange to pink to white, as well as heather and more colorful plants. And you will be almost on your own since the stroll is not famous in Parisians!
