Star-gazing Nights are 3 days to observe the sky everywhere in France on August 3, 4 and 5, 2018. For this event, astronomy enthusiasts meet in the most beautiful observatories in France to gaze at the stars and welcome everyone for introductions to star-gazing with the naked eye or read sky maps, a wonderful moment of sharing, even in Paris!
Star-gazing Nights are coming very soon! For three days, on August 3, 4 and 5, 2018, you will look at the sky with a fresh eye thanks to the CNES (French National Center for Space Studies), the AFA (French Astronomy Association) and the French National Center for Scientific Research, from the most beautiful spots in France and some are in Ile-de-France!
In 2018, all eyes will be on Mars, this planet set the closest to us, “in opposition” as astronomers say, at 67 million kilometers from here (175 times the distance from the Earth to the Moon). Then, many observatories will turn to Mars for beautiful observations of this dry planet, this “red desert that looked like Earth 4 billion years ago, but some observatories could turn to the stars to read the constellations!
Many hosts will be present to answer to all your questions: what’s the difference between a comet and a shooting star? Where does the universe stop? Star-gazing Night are open to all, couple, families, passionates, from 9 p.m. to nightfall, we will all have our eyes turned toward the horizon.
