The Traversée de Paris en anciennes is one of the must-attend events in Paris for lovers of old jalopies. Twice a year, in winter and summer, for an entire morning, the streets of Paris come alive to the sound of cars, motorcycles, bicycles, tractors, buses and light commercial vehicles over 30 years old, for an unusual crossing of Paris. The rendezvous for this 18th edition is this Sunday, July 20, 2025 , for a crossing from Vincennes to the Terrasse de l'Observatoire de Meudon, where a convivial picnic is planned.
This Sunday, get up early to make sure you don't miss the Traversée de Paris estivale en véhicules d'époque, an emblematic event that starts at 7.30 a.m. sharp from the southern forecourt of the Château de Vincennes. The 2025 edition takes on an unprecedented European dimension, with vehicles proudly displaying the colors of 11 countries, including France, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, joined by Italy and Portugal via French plates. An original way to celebrate geographical Europe, well beyond its political borders.
The event continues to attract many enthusiasts of vintage vehicles, from rare automobiles to tractors, motorcycles and bicycles from another era. This year's event will once again feature such nuggets as a 1907 Ford R from Switzerland, a 1930 Citroën AC4 Torpédo for Hungary, and a 1948 HRD Rapide motorcycle. The Terrasse de l'Observatoire de Meudon will welcome the vehicles from 11:30 a.m. for a festive picnic in a relaxed musical atmosphere, also open to visitors on foot. A Jeep exhibition will also be on display.
If you don't have a classic car, don't panic. The Vincennes en Anciennes association is offering a tour on board a Renault bus from the 1930s, for just €10, with registration (subject to availability). Meet at 7.45 a.m. in front of the Parc Floral de Vincennes, for an 8.15 a.m. departure. Return around 3:30 pm. It's a unique opportunity to enjoy an experience from another century, while taking in some of the capital's finest views.
The route changes with each edition, and this year it takes us on a 30 km ride through :
No Concorde on the program this time, but a sufficiently varied itinerary to enable Parisians to cross paths with the procession.
A white dress code is recommended for the crews, adding a touch of elegance to the overall look. The Vincennes en Anciennes organization is keen to point out that these vehicles are real treasures of our rolling heritage, bearing witness to the technical and social history of Europe. In the words of Patrick Gomez, President of Vincennes en Anciennes: " These vehicles deserve our attention, as they contribute to the preservation of our rolling heritage in a concrete way. " To register or simply find out more about the program, information is available directly on the official website.
A great outing for old-vehicle enthusiasts, photographers and families!
