4 lieux de la capitale : Voie Georges Pompidou, Berges de Seine rive gauche, Hôtel de Ville et Bassin de la Villette

When will Paris-Plages open? Each year, when the sand arrives in Paris, Parisians and tourists suddenly feel like they are living in the tropics. In 2017, the artificial beaches will be open from July 8 to September 3 with several changes: the left bank of the river Seine will welcome artificial beaches, a huge swimming pool will take place in La Villette but the biggest shock is that the 3,000 tons of sand will not be here! Hold on, we are going to tell you everything…

If you are a Paris regular, you know all about Paris-Plages: since 2002, for 16 years then, 3,5000 tons of sand, 550 deckchairs, 450 parasols, 50 palm trees and dozens of animations have been waiting for you on the Voie Georges Pompidou, to the greatest displeasure of drivers that could not use this road for a month.

Over the years, the office of the Mayor of Paris took over the esplanade in front of the City Hall and the Bassin de la Villette to offer several atmospheres: lazing about in Voie Pompidou, sports, culture and movies in front of the City Hall and a beach resort at the Bassin de la Villette!

This year, Paris-Plages is back from July 8 to September 3, 2017 in 4 places:

  • Voie Georges Pompidou (Parc Rives de Seine, right bank)

On the right bank, in the Voie Georges Pompidou, under the palm trees, Paris-Plages offers us hundreds of deckchairs to relax, water misters, picnic tables, refreshment stalls, ice-cream makers, tai-chi sessions, dance workshops and a free library.

  • Solférino harbor, the Invalides (Seine river left bank)

New in 2017: Paris-Plages activities are set on this side of the Seine river with dozens of deckchairs to relax, water misters, picnic tables, refreshment stalls, ice-cream makers so you can party all the way to the Pont Alexandre III!

  • City Hall

As part of Paris-Plages, the esplanade in front of the City Hall will become THE place to be with several highlights: the Festival Fnac Live and then a running track as part of Paris application for the 2024 Olympics!

  • Bassin de la Villette

Once again in 2017, Paris-Plages turns the Bassin de la Villette into a beach resort. Deckchairs, pétanque, fountains, animations and shows will be on the menu. But this year, Paris-Plages will set a bathing area up in the Bassin de la Villette located on the Quai de la Loire and 3 pools will be open daily for free between July 15 and August 15, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.!

La baignade gratuite dans le Bassin de la Villette autorisée cet été !

Whether you are on the right bank or at the Bassin de la Villette, over 54,000 hours of leisure are waiting for you for 2 months from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m. Scattered across the four venues, pop-up libraries and restaurants (sweet crepes for €5, main dish for €12 and ice-creams for €3) will be up so we can stay all day long without returning to the hustle and bustle of the Parisian life.

Reading a book, observing bateaux mouches, there is nothing better to unwind during the summer!
