Doctor Gachet's house, located in Auvers-sur-Oise in the Val-d'Oise region of France, is a place steeped in emotion and history, where the shadow of Vincent van Gogh still looms large. A doctor, friend of artists and art lover, Paul Gachet welcomed the Dutch painter here during the last months of his life in 1890. It was in this rural setting that Van Gogh found a little serenity, frantically painting over 70 canvases in the space of a few weeks, including the famous portrait of Doctor Gachet. Now transformed into a house museum, this 19th-century building retains the soul of the period, with its original furniture, flower-filled garden and temporary exhibitions paying tribute to the artistic effervescence of the late 19th century. A moving visit that plunges us into the intimacy of the painter and the bohemian atmosphere of Auvers, a small village that has become mythical in the history of art.
