July 14th is a key date in the French summer. No wonder: it's the national holiday! The whole country joins in the festivities. In every corner of the country, fireworks light up the sky, and people dance the night away at firemen's balls and bals populaires organized in various French towns and cities. It's an occasion not to be missed! Young and old alike can enjoy a wide range of festive events on this public holiday.
In Paris, two highlights await locals and visitors alike: an impressive military parade down the Champs-Elysées avenue, and an iconic fireworks display from the Eiffel Tower, no less! But Paris isn't the only place to celebrate: the whole of the Île-de-France region is taking part in the festivities, with a wide range of events scheduled for July 13 and 14. For some, it's a chance to celebrate the Fête Nationale close to home. For others, it's a chance to explore the region's heritage, which is well worth the detour!
In the Val-de-Marne, the town of L'Haÿ-les-Roses is one of these nuggets to be discovered, notably for its sublime rose garden. Nearby is the Domaine de Sceaux , whose garden was designed by André-le-Notre, and its château, which houses an art museum. As you can see, you'll have plenty to enjoy while you wait for the festivities to kick off at L'Haÿ-les-Roses. The program for the Fête Nationale 2023 in L'Haÿ-les-Roses
Thursday July 13, 2023 from 4pm to midnight on theEsplanade de la BievreIn the afternoon, L'Haÿssiens can bring the whole family and their children to enjoy the games on offer: inflatable structures, fairground games, crêpes, cotton candy...
At 5:30 p.m., an open-air screening of the animated film Le Lorax will take place (ages 6 and up), hosted by the elected members of the Conseil Municipal des Enfants.
In the evening, food-trucks will be on hand.
From 7 p.m. onwards, Groove Up Gang will host a live concert and a popular ball, before a spectacular fireworks display at 11 p.m..
Free shuttles will be available for L'Haÿssiens, taking passengers around the town. Parking spaces will also be provided in the vicinity of the festival.
