Bastille Day celebrations are gearing up to shake up the Paris region on July 13 and 14, 2026. As the saying goes, it’s better to be prepared than caught off guard, so here are the disruptions to expect to help you make the most of the festivities and the public holiday.

Every year, the July 14 festivities draw huge crowds to Paris and the Île-de-France region. From the military parade along the Champs-Élysées, to official ceremonies, the popular dances, the concerts and the traditional fireworks launched from the Eiffel Tower, the capital lives to the rhythm of a packed schedule spread across July 13 and 14, 2026.

To ensure the smooth running of these events and public safety, substantial security measures are being rolled out across several districts of Paris. These steps may cause disruptions to public transport, including temporary metro station closures, restricted access, altered bus routes, and traffic restrictions around the main gathering sites.

Beyond last-minute disruptions and line work, during the National Day celebrations, the RATP and SNCF Transilien networks adjust their operations to match ceremonies, gatherings, and security perimeters. The areas around the Champs-Élysées, Place de la Concorde, Champ-de-Mars, Trocadéro, the Invalides, and the quays along the Seine are typically the most affected. Depending on schedules and crowd levels, some stations may be closed for several hours, while others remain accessible only for exit, transfer, or through select entrances.

To help you plan your Bastille Day travel, this page gathers the key traffic information you need for July 13 and 14, 2026. Here you'll find the disruptions announced on the metro, RER and Transilien lines, updated in real time.
