The Bastille Day celebration 2026 in Étampes, in Essonne, is disrupted. Due to a prefectural order linked to the exceptional wildfire risk, the fireworks, the torch-lit procession and the July 14, 2026 festivities are postponed to a later date. Only the official ceremony remains on the schedule.
If you were planning to attend the Bastille Day celebrations in Étampes for 2026, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Due to a prefectural decree issued amid an exceptional fire risk provoked by the heat, the events scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, 2026 have been postponed. The fireworks, torchlight procession, and the public dance will not take place on the planned date. However, the commemorative ceremony remains set to start at 9:30 a.m. at the Town Hall.
The Essonne prefecture has temporarily banned fireworks and other festive bonfires across the department. The measure applies to both towns and private residents and is aimed at preventing any risk of fires in a context of drought and unusually high temperatures. Several Bastille Day events in 14 juillet en Île-de-France are thus affected.
In Étampes, the evening program was due to start with a torchlit parade through the town center before heading to the Île de loisirs d'Étampes, where a popular dance event was on the bill, followed by the traditional fireworks. The City today announces the postponement of all these festivities to safeguard residents' safety.
The municipality says that the safety and health of everyone must come first, even if that means postponing the celebrations. A new date will be announced as soon as conditions allow us to hold these events safely. Residents are urged to follow the information published by the City of Étampes.
By contrast, the Bastille Day commemorative ceremony is kept on. It will proceed as planned from 9:30 a.m. in the City Hall courtyard. This moment of reflection and tribute remains on the program despite the postponement of festive activities.
Located roughly fifty kilometers south of Paris, Étampes remains a pleasant stop for a stroll, thanks to its historic heritage, its old town, and the banks of the Juine. However, if you were planning to head to the Île de loisirs to catch the fireworks show or the village dance, you’ll need to wait for a new date to be announced by the municipality.
