Once the festive season is over, the City of Paris invites you to drop off your Christmas tree at one of the capital's many collection points, until January 20, 2024!

No sooner has your Christmas tree taken up residence in your home than it's time for it to go... To avoid finding a whole heap of trees in the streets of the capital, the city is setting up a special service until January 20, 2024, which allows you to drop off your Christmas tree and give it a second life! It's a fun and easy way to recycle your tree, and all you have to do is find your nearest collection point on the City Hall website!

Your tree will then be shredded and reused in Parisian green spaces, "by gardeners in the form of mulch and spread at the foot of flower beds and on paths". " This helps to reduce the appearance of weeds, limit water evaporation and encourage the development of underground micro-organisms that improve soil life," explains the City of Paris. A good deed that will clear the clutter in your living room, if you can't keep the tree for next year.

176 collection points are open throughout the city. Please note that your tree must be left unbagged, unadorned and unpainted before it can be recycled! Last year, some 124,488 trees were given a new lease of life in the capital's gardens. If you've forgotten the date, don't panic: the city says it's"possible to take your tree out at the same time as your building's green-lidded "household waste" bins". A refuse collection truck will then pick it up.
