The town of Rambouillet is home to a monument with a curious name: thePalais du Roi de Rome ( ). Built in 1811 on the orders of Napoleon I for his son, this site is now a museum open to the public. The exhibitions organized in this museum are well worth a visit. But if we invite you to the Palais du Roi de Rome this winter, it's for a completely different reason...
On December 12, 13, and 14, 2025, the monument is organizing its sparkling Christmas: a nighttime stroll through a luminous and dreamlike setting, to be enjoyed with family or friends.
Explore the palace gardens and admire the façade lit by candlelight and the video mapping show. Throughout the weekend, from 5 to 8 p.m., visitors are invited to stroll through the illuminated gardens before arriving at a musical mapping show, projected continuously onto the museum's façade. And here's the best news of all: it's allfree !
More specifically, the Palais du Roi de Rome unveils a new scenography in its gardens: metal automatons, lit candles lining the paths, columns of embers, and a giant fireball in the pond. We follow the candlelight to the palace.
There, you can discover "Winter Dream," a light and music show that transports us into the magical world of Christmas. With Santa's workshop, children's dreams, and holiday magic, this story projected onto the museum's facade enchants young and old alike.
Don't miss this sparkling Christmas at the Palais du Roi de Rome, and enjoy a beautiful, festive, and free walk in Rambouillet.
