The Alpine Village returns to Thiais in Val-de-Marne from December 20, 2025, to January 4, 2026. Visitors can enjoy a skating rink, a toboggan run, cross-country skiing, and the Magical Forest at the Palais Omnisports of this southern Paris suburb.

Starting this weekend, head over to discover the Mountain Village of Thiais in the Val-de-Marne. This winter spectacle runs from December 20, 2025, to January 4, 2026, on the parking lot of the Omnisports Arena, on Rue Renoir. It’s a breath of fresh mountain air just a few kilometers from Paris, offering a perfect escape to the snowy Alps without leaving Île-de-France. An ideal activity for a festive family Christmas outing.

Organized by the Thiais Municipal Sports Office in partnership with the town, the Mountain Village transforms the parking lot of the Omnisports Palace into a true winter resort. Visitors can enjoy the full mountain atmosphere with a skating rink, a , a cross-country ski trail, and even a Magical Forest filled with surprises for the little ones. A complete escape from the ordinary Christmas markets, offering a refreshing change of scenery.

Regarding the opening hours, the village is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., except on Christmas Day when it will be closed for the holiday. On January 1, 2026, visitors can still enjoy the attractions from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to kick off the new year. However, note that on December 24 and 31, the village will close earlier at 5 p.m. to give everyone enough time to celebrate with loved ones.

What Can You Do at the Thiais Mountain Village?

The concept is simple and straightforward. For 3€, you get a ticket granting access to four toboggan rides or 30 minutes of activity at your choice — whether it's the ice rink, cross-country skiing, or the Magical Forest. It's a great value that allows you to try out several attractions without breaking the bank. Kids can zip down the slides repeatedly while we give ice skating or cross-country skiing a shot. The atmosphere is warm and festive, with that charming mountain vibe we're really fond of.

The Mountain Village is setting up shop in a convenient neighborhood of Thiais, just a short distance from the Thiais Village shopping center and its IKEA — the closest one to Paris. It’s the perfect spot for those looking to combine holiday shopping with winter activities and enjoy a full day of festive fun in the area. Located south of the city, the village is easily accessible by car or public transportation.

Can You Really Go Skiing in Thiais?

Yes, and that's exactly what caught us off guard! Unlike other winter events that often only feature a skating rink, here you can actually put on skis and try cross-country skiing on a designated trail. It's a perfect opportunity for us, beginners, to discover this sport without having to go up into the mountains. For thrill-seekers, the sledding slope will likely be a favorite, while seasoned skaters or newcomers alike will enjoy the ice rink set up especially for the festivities.

A quick practical note: due to the setup and takedown of the village, Maurepas Street—specifically the lower section from the corner with Chèvre d'Autreville Street to Adrien Tessier Street—will remain closed until Monday, December 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. An alternative route will be suggested for those passing through the area before it reopens.

In short, the Mountain Village of Thiais offers a genuine alternative to the traditional Christmas markets for families in Val-de-Marne and beyond. With a mix of sports activities and a festive atmosphere, visitors can enjoy a friendly experience without breaking the bank. The organizers reserve the right to close the event in case of bad weather, so it’s wise to keep an eye on the weather forecast before heading out. All the details can be found on the Thiais city website, as this event is already promising to be another success following previous years.

The Thiais Mountain Village will be open from December 20, 2025, to January 4, 2026. It welcomes visitors daily from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (except on Christmas Day, when it will be closed; New Year’s Day, from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; and December 24 and 31, closing early at 5 p.m.). Tickets cost €3, which covers four toboggan runs or 30 minutes of activities. The village is accessible via the Parking lot of the Omnisport Palace, on Rue Renoir, 94320 Thiais.
