In Paris and the Île-de-France region, Christmas markets are making a welcome return as the festive season approaches! Stalls are going up, fairy lights are being switched on, and gift ideas are starting to fill Santa’s sack. In Essonne, head to Gif-sur-Yvette, where the traditional Christmas Market is scheduled to run from Friday, December 11 to Sunday, December 13, 2026, in the town hall park, in the town center.
Over three days, this event is usually the perfect place to stock up on handcrafted creations, gourmet specialties and Christmas gifts as you stroll along the park’s paths. The previous edition featured no fewer than 55 chalets, run by producers, artisans and shopkeepers showcasing their specialties and creations.
And Gif knows how to spice up the holiday season! In 2025, the market went Brazilian, with a taste of feijoada, bossa nova concerts, capoeira demonstrations and maraca-making workshops. Santa Claus also strolled among the chalets, while children enjoyed storytime, creative workshops and a carousel set up nearby.
For Christmas 2026, the first event has already been announced: the Lions Club de Gif-Chevry will host a charity stall on Saturday, December 12, from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., offering crêpes, jams and orangettes to enjoy or give as gifts. Proceeds from sales will help fund the initiatives supported by the association.
As for the rest of the festivities, we’ll have to wait a little longer! The City has not yet revealed this year’s theme or confirmed whether Santa Claus, workshops and family activities will return. The exact opening hours are also yet to be announced.
So, are you ready to swap your shopping list for a wish list for Santa? Gif-sur-Yvette invites us to join them in December to stock up on gift ideas and treats!
