Christmas is approaching and a touch of magic is already in the air in the capital. The streets of Parisare lit up and the department store windows are on display. It's time to get out your woolen scarves and hats, because the holiday season is just around the corner!
This year, Printemps Haussmann's 2025 Christmas window displays take us on a unique journey to New York, from November 6, 2025, to January 4, 2026. In Paris's 9th arrondissement, the famous department store is celebrating the opening of its very first American store in Manhattan this year and transforming its window displays into a joyful urban adventure.
Guided by an endearing band of explorer dogs, the 2025 edition takes us on a journey through the Big Apple's iconic neighborhoods, from the steps of the MET to the Rockefeller Center ice rink and Times Square. It's an original way to mark Printemps' first venture into the United States, combining New York neighborhood spirit with French Christmas magic.
In March 2025, Printemps opened its first American store in the heart of Manhattan, in the iconic One Wall Street building. Designed as a true destination combining shopping and hospitality, this new location reinvents the department store experience with remarkable architecture, bold design by Laura Gonzalez, an exclusive and eclectic selection, unique dining concepts, and tailor-made services. To celebrate this exceptional event, Printemps is bringing the magic of the holidays to life in the colors of New York, a city in perpetual motion that becomes the backdrop for an urban and resolutely joyful Christmas.
This year, the Printemps Haussmann window displays pay tribute to the boundless energy of New York, with humor, tenderness, and graphic references. The displays are designed like an illustrated travel journal, immersing passersby in an urban journey full of twists and turns. The windows come to life like the panels of a living comic strip, with a black-and-white graphic code inspired by New Yorker comics, accentuating the mischievous features of our canine protagonists.
125 characters bring the animated window displays at Printemps Haussmann to life. Elegantly designed in black and white, as if straight out of a Christmas comic strip, these handmade characters come to life on the boulevard. This cheerful band of dogs, with varied morphologies and accessorized with humor and tenderness, is the result of the meticulous work of Valérie Cuter, a talented seamstress with whom Printemps has been collaborating for many years. Valérie began her career at Printemps in 1998. Passionate about theater and costumes, her talent and creativity led her to collaborate with the department store's window display department before striking out on her own in 2017.
Whether wearinga skating tutu, a knitted Christmas sweater, a mini shopping bag, an oversized scarf, or holding a mini hot dog, each accessory evokes a scene from New York City. At the crossroads of design and emotion, these expressive dogs tell a story of friendship, exploration, and celebration. They embody a city at muzzle level, full of surprises and magic, combining local traditions with a nod to Printemps' expertise. With sustainability in mind, the characters and decorations are made from natural and recyclable materials such as cardboard and fabric.
As every year, the inauguration was attended by a special guest. On this occasion, actress and model Diane Krugercame to inaugurate the launch of the Christmas window displays. She was accompanied by Laëtitia Henry, Managing Director of PRINTEMPS Haussmann, and Jean Gasnier, Marketing Director of PRINTEMPS.
The adventure begins in the bustling streets of the city that never sleeps. On their paws, these endearing furry explorers crisscross the iconic neighborhoods of the Big Apple through five animated window displays. Each window display is a celebration of Christmas Made in New York, abundant, funny, and touching.
In Times Square, a Broadway-style flash mob electrifies the beating heart of Manhattan. Star dancing dogs, dressed in tutus or fleece sweatshirts, improvise a choreographed routine in front of stunned passersby. Bright screens display slogans and nods to Printemps and its current partners. A vibrant, luminous moment suspended in time, capturing all the energy of this legendary square, symbol of New York's dynamism. The atmosphere is electric and festive, as if we were right in the heart of this famous intersection where the whole world comes together.
It's the most joyful clash of the season: the Printemps teams face off in a frenzied basketball game. Wild cheerleaders, bouncing mascots, and a Kiss Cam that interacts live with Boulevard Haussmann create a crazy atmosphere. Spectators hold their breath between baskets, while in the stands, team supporters challenge each other with style. This showcase captures the sporting and competitive spirit of New York with an irresistible touch of humor. It's like being in a real sports arena, where the passion for the game mixes with the joy of the holidays.
It's rush hour and joyful chaos reigns on the scene. The iconic New York taxis are at a standstill, but the dogs are not letting it get them down. Some are quietly reading the newspaper in the back, others are improvising a concert on the roof, and one is desperately trying to hail a taxi that has already been taken. It's a lively scene, a humorous nod to the daily frenzy of Manhattan. This window display mischievously illustrates the constant buzz of the city, where even traffic jams become a joyful and lively adventure.
Under a sparkling starry sky, the ice rink comes alive around a golden Ferrero Rocher pyramid that illuminates the entire scene, adding a touch of gourmet magic. Dogs in tutus spin gracefully on the ice, others glide at full speed, while some exchange gifts filled with the famous chocolate treats. Between bursts of laughter, elegant pirouettes, and golden treats, the spirit of the holiday season comes to life in the magic of New York. This window display captures the winter magic of the Rockefeller Center ice rink, an iconic place where New Yorkers love to celebrate Christmas. Note that the restaurants at Printemps Haussmann offer an exclusive pastry created with Ferrero Rocher to prolong this gourmet experience.
After an eventful journey through New York, the merry band of dogs finally reaches its final destination: Printemps New York, a new iconic address in the heart of Manhattan at One Wall Street. In front of the department store's entrance, an army of inflatable Santa Clauses welcomes visitors in a festive and generous atmosphere. Gifts fly through the air, ribbons swirl, and the delighted dogs celebrate their arrival at the foot of the most beautiful Christmas tree. It's a joyful and sparkling finale, reflecting the city that has guided them here. This final window display brings the journey to a beautiful close and reminds us that Printemps is now present on both sides of the Atlantic.
The 2025 edition marks the 160th anniversary of Printemps, founded in 1865 by Jules Jaluzot. The department store's Christmas window displays have been a must-see tradition since 1924, attracting more than 10 million visitors from around the world each year. Printemps Haussmann is continuing its tradition of festive decoration while celebrating its international expansion with this historic opening in New York.
