As October draws to a close, a strange atmosphere settles over the old stones of the Abbaye de Royaumont... From October 18 to November 1, 2025, the beautiful Abbaye de Royaumont, a monastery founded by Saint-Louis, is decked out in terrifying decorations and a misty atmosphere for the All Saints' Day vacation, Halloween. A former hospital during the Great War, the abbey is overflowing with ghosts just waiting to come out and haunt you in workshops, storytelling and theatrical tours!
This historic site in Asnières-sur-Oise, in the Val d'Oise, is now a center for art and history, offering exhibitions, concerts, shows and meetings throughout the year... But all these activities can't prevent the past from resurfacing from time to time...
Halloween is a particularly good time for these strange phenomena. During the All Saints' vacation, at the end of October, the Abbaye de Royaumont is also transformed to create a spooky and playful atmosphere.

In the afternoon, in the warm and mysterious setting of the abbey library, come and discover stories of witches, monsters, and ghosts. Spells, strange transformations, and other evil deeds will gently thrill young and old alike.
Stories for all ages, from 5 years old and up. The storyteller will adjust the level of thrills to suit her audience.

- Workshop: carve your own pumpkin!
Halloween has been celebrated for centuries in the English-speaking world and for decades in Europe. At Royaumont, it takes on a very family-oriented form, with storytelling and workshops for young audiences. As the abbey has a beautiful vegetable garden, which is particularly productive in the fall, the Foundation invites young visitors to carve one of its pumpkins in its large greenhouse. Children can take home their creation as well as the pumpkin pieces they remove, so they can make soup or cake at home (recipes will be provided).

- Halloween night tour
Do you dare to cross the abbey in the middle of the night? At nightfall, visitors can follow in the footsteps of a guide who will take them through the vast park, filled with the sounds of animals, and the medieval halls with their eerie echoes. Throughout the tour, in the dim light, the guide will describe the astonishing lives of the monks who lived within these walls nearly 800 years ago, the textile factory workers who succeeded them, and the Scottish nurses who cared for thousands of soldiers during World War I.
In particular, he will reveal disturbing anecdotes that are rarely told. For example, do you know who was buried under the old abbey church? A tour to thrill, entertain, and enrich, with family or friends...
