The Journées du Patrimoine are a golden opportunity to explore the capital's history, following in the footsteps of crowned heads, nobles and extraordinary personalities, on an exceptional journey back in time. Between museums, castles and historic monuments, take advantage of the weekendof September 20 and 21, 2025 to expand your knowledge during fun workshops or free guided tours of Paris.
If you appreciate the beauty of the Marais district, why not discover the Hôtel de Sully, exceptionally open for the Journées du Patrimoine. Built in 1625 by financier Mesme Galet, this superb townhouse was soon sold to Roland de Neufbourg and François Poussart, who gave it its current structure, between courtyard and garden, overlooking rue Saint-Antoine.
It was purchased bythe Duc de Sully on February 23, 1634, and became the property of his grandson, the second Duc de Sully, on the death of his second wife. An apartment for the duke was built on the first floor, while his wife, Charlotte Séguier, took up residence on the second floor. In the 19th century, the Hôtel de Sully was rented out to numerous craftsmen; it also housed a clinic and even a gymnasium. The duchess's apartments were also occupied by a piano factory.
Since 1974, the Hôtel de Sully has been the headquarters of the Centre des monuments nationaux.
