The Panthéon is taking part in the 43rd European Heritage Days, offering free admission on September 19 and 20. Take advantage of this opportunity to visit Paris’s unmissable monument.

The Pantheon is one of France's most symbolic national monuments. Nestled in the heart of the Latin Quarter, this imposing edifice embodies, in its own way, the History of France. Come discover it free of charge during the 43rd Heritage Days, on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026.

The monument, dedicated to the great men and women of the French Republic, is housed in a church designed by architect Jacques Germain Soufflot, a fervent admirer of Greco-Roman architecture. She chose to build it on a Greek cross plan, and the entire architectural style of the church is imbued with.

In 1791, plans were made to bring together the tombs of France's great men in a place dedicated to them, as in the case ofWestminster Abbey in England, where Mirabeau died.

Since then, the Panthéon has housed the remains of some of the Republic's greatest figures. The crypt contains the tombs of Rousseau, Voltaire,Émile Zola, Jean Moulin, Louis Braille, René Cassin, Victor Schœlcher, Jean Monnet, Marie Curie(the first woman to be admitted) and, more recently, Simone Veil. And a little curiosity: the Pantheon has housed a copy of Foucault's pendulum since 1851.

Heritage Days Heritage Days are the perfect opportunity to visit this monument and meet all these remarkable figures. But for this 43rd edition, the Panthéon also has a surprise in store for us! To learn more, check out the program below...
