European Heritage Days 2026: the Museum of the Liberation of Paris unveils its program

For the new edition of Heritage Days, the Museum of the Liberation of Paris — General Leclerc Museum — Jean Moulin Museum invites you to free tours and activities over the weekend of September 19–20, 2026.

Inaugurated in 2019, for the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Paris, the Musée de la Libération de Paris - Musée du Général Leclerc - Musée Jean Moulin is one of the city's lesser-known museums. And yet, just across the road from the Catacombs, it is home to a wealth of historical treasures that tell the story of one of the great events in the history of France and the capital.

On the occasion of the 43rd edition of the Heritage Days, this museum invites you to a weekend of discovery, Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026. Over the two days, history enthusiasts will be able to participate in self-guided and guided tours of the museum, as well as a range of activities suitable for the whole family.

Photographs, objects that belonged to the great combatants of this war, period costumes and accessories, historical documents, paintings, letters, drawings, posters, audiovisual testimonies... Some 7,000 military and everyday French objects plunge us into this troubled era. Come and discover these exceptional collections during the Heritage Days.

What’s on for Heritage Days 2026 at the Museum of the Liberation of Paris — General Leclerc Museum — Jean Moulin Museum:

Tablet-based serious game: “Rol-Tanguy’s Mission: Underground Puzzles”
Your family mission, should you choose to accept it: foil the plans of the fearsome “Von Terror” who threatens to erase the memory of a landmark of the Liberation of Paris—the underground command post of Colonel Rol-Tanguy, located 20 meters beneath the museum.

A tablet game that lets you rediscover the emblematic underground command post of Colonel Rol-Tanguy, tucked beneath the museum, in a fresh light.

Note: the Rol-Tanguy command post is accessible only via a staircase of one hundred steps; this part of the visit is not accessible to visitors with reduced mobility.
Participation conditions: Access every 30 minutes from 10:30 to 12:30, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, then at 5:15 PM. Children aged 8 to 12 must be accompanied by a parent. Tickets can be picked up directly at the museum’s ticket desk. - Free

The Liberation of Paris | Guided Tour
A lecturer traces the events of the days leading up to the Liberation of Paris on August 25, 1944, drawing from the museum's collections and from Colonel Rol-Tanguy's command post.

A family affair for the Rol-Tanguy mission
An original and engaging way to explore the World War II era in France by exploring the museum’s collections and descending into the underground command post of the Liberation of Paris. In the command post, take part in an interactive tablet game to help the Rol-Tanguy couple counter the plans of the dreaded General Von Terror.

Mixed-reality tour "Insurrection 1944"
Step into the shoes of a battle-tested reporter as you interview Colonel Rol, commander of the French internal forces in the Île-de-France region, amid a Paris in the throes of rebellion. You’re guided by Jean, a uniformed soldier who shows you the inner workings of the underground command post. Wearing a mixed-reality headset that blends virtual images with the real world, you’ll experience a fully immersive digital journey through a landmark chapter of the Liberation of Paris.

What did life look like in France during World War II? The answer awaits in our collections. Guided by Colette and Ernest—the stars of the animated series Les grandes Grandes Vacances by Delphine Maury and Olivier Vinuesa—and by a speaker who knows a wealth of stories.

The Art of Black-and-White Photo Printing | Interview
### Around the exhibition "Robert Capa, War Photographer," an exceptional interview with Thomas Consani, the silver-gelatin black-and-white printmaker, at the Paris Liberation Museum.

The Masters of Art–Students program aims to preserve and showcase rare and exceptional techniques held by professionals in the arts trades. Since 2012, they have been supported by the Institute for French Craftsmanship (Institut pour les Savoir-Faire Français) to pass their skills on to another professional, known as a Student, ensuring the continuity of these know-how that enrich our intangible cultural heritage. This transmission culminates in the awarding of the title Master of Art. Created in 1994 by the Ministry of Culture, it draws on the Japanese model of the “Living National Treasures” (Ningen Kokuhō). It distinguishes outstanding professionals by entrusting them with an official mission of transmission. It represents the highest state recognition for a professional in the arts trades.

In 2026, Thomas Consani (silver-gelatin black-and-white printmaker) and his pupil Alexandre Dias Lopes, both at Picto, join the Masters of Art–Students program. For two years, they will work on transmitting this know-how and promoting this craft, in a context shaped by the bicentennial of photography (September 2026 – September 2027).
