Auvers-sur-Oise is inseparable from the great names of painting, from Vincent van Gogh to Charles-François Daubigny. It is precisely in Daubigny’s circle that the Maison Rose de Wallerand fits. In 1870, the painter Charles-François Daubigny had the barn adjoining his house converted into a spacious summer studio. The space allowed him to tackle large canvases and, above all, to host fellow artists. Over the years, this house became a true meeting place where visitors included Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, Honoré Daumier, Berthe Morisot, Paul Cézanne, and Claude Monet.
Following Daubigny's death, his son Karl, also a painter, carried on the tradition by occupying the premises until 1886. More than a century later, the visual artist Wallerand breathes new life into this historic studio. Having settled in the house between 2014 and 2021, he restores its role as a hub for artistic creation and exchange. In tribute to his commitment, the site now bears his name.
Now bearing the label Regional Heritage of Interest, the Maison Rose de Wallerand continues its story by hosting artists in residence and presenting year-round exhibitions, concerts, performances, and cultural encounters. More than a simple exhibition space, it preserves the spirit of the artists’ studios that helped establish the fame of Auvers-sur-Oise since the 19th century.

The exhibition tells how Micheline and Roger Tagliana created an art space in Auvers-sur-Oise from 1952 to 1986 at the Van Gogh Café, now the Ravoux Inn.
