For the 2026 Heritage Days in Paris, the greenhouses at the Jardin du Luxembourg will exceptionally be open to the general public on the weekend of September 19–20, 2026.

Each year, during Heritage Days in Paris, the public is invited to discover and explore many places that are usually closed to visitors. During this magical weekend, the doors of these establishments swing open on an exceptional basis, revealing long-hidden secrets. This 2026 edition is no exception, and plant lovers will surely be delighted to learn they can explore the greenhouses of the Jardin du Luxembourg. For a weekend, one can discover this small secret garden, jealously guarded by the Sénat.

We’ve got a date for September 19 and 20, 2026 in this expansive garden set in the heart of the 6th arrondissement. Highly regarded by Parisians, the Luxembourg Garden draws a diverse crowd thanks to its many spaces and the activities on offer. Sport or a little downtime, with family or friends, the garden knows how to welcome all visitors.

But only a handful of people have had the opportunity to tour its greenhouses, which house a substantial collection of orchids in various varieties. A genuine treasure trove for professional and amateur botanists alike.

As you’ll have guessed, there’s no question of missing Heritage Days, which offer a great chance to discover these greenhouses. Check out the week-end, program and plan your visit without delay: this venue is expected to draw a large crowd... And of course, take the opportunity to visit the Senate, which is also opening its doors during this special weekend.

The lineup for this year's Heritage Days:

  • Guided tours of the Luxembourg Gardens’ greenhouses

Unique greenhouses in the heart of Paris

In the very center of the Jardin du Luxembourg lie greenhouses that, due to their technical setup, are public-accessible only on rare occasions. They host a wide variety of tropical plants, including a renowned orchid collection. An in vitro culture laboratory completes the setup and enables plant multiplication.

To mark European Heritage Days, these greenhouses open to the public for a rare occasion, showcasing part of their botanical wealth. Workshops accompany the stroll and offer insights into topics such as biological control, fern propagation, and orchid repotting. A stand also presents the garden’s fruit collection and the free courses offered by the Gardens Conservation Service on fruit arboriculture and ornamental gardening.

    A remarkable heritage to discover

After this visit, discover the Luco’s iconic spots, from the recently renovated Medici Fountain to the apiary-school nestled in the heart of the Garden since 1856.
