Paris is bursting with architectural treasures, and the capital's churches are no exception! For this 42nd edition of the Journées du Patrimoine, most of them are opening their doors on the weekend of September 20 and 21 to let you discover their history. This is the case, for example, of theÉglise de la Sainte-Trinité, which awaits you for guided tours on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
These visits are a little special, since they involve a tour of the work in progress on the main facade. Built between 1861 and 1867 by architect Théodore Ballu during the Second Empire. At 30 meters high (65 meters with the bell tower), it was designed to be seen from theOpéra Garnier. The church was consecrated well after its construction, in 1913, and was also listed as a historic monument in 1977, before being classified in January 2016.
The church is best known as the site of funeral services for famous composers such as Rossini, Hector Berlioz, and George Bizet. During the Heritage Days, the site opens its doors to give visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the ongoing restoration effort. This tour offers a unique opportunity to understand the process and significance of this work. Visitors will have the chance to meet the craftspeople involved in the project, especially the stonemasons, who will share insights into their craft.
