Journées du Patrimoine 2025: explore the Irish Embassy - Hôtel de Breteuil, Paris

TheHôtel de Breteuil, home to theIrish Embassy, may not be as green as the Anglo-Saxon country, but it has just as rich a history! To discover it, and to immerse yourself in Irish culture, come and visit this embassy located in the 16th arrondissement, on Saturday September 20, 2025, on the occasion of the 42nd Journées du Patrimoine.

Built in 1892 by architect Ernest Sanson for the Marquis de Breteuil, this mansion was inspired by the Hanover Pavilion, and decorated with woodwork dating back to the reign of Louis XV. The building passed from one family to the next, welcoming in turn leading entrepreneurs and then the Princesse de Faucigny-Lucinge, before becoming the headquarters of the French Secretary of State during the Second World War.

The Journées du Patrimoine are therefore an opportunity to discover this historic building, and also to take advantage of the cultural events organized by the Embassy, to celebrate Irish history and arts.
