Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) are a much-anticipated cultural event throughout Europe. This flagship event of the autumn season gives us a rare opportunity to visit the finest treasures of our heritage, often in an unprecedented way. Every year, museums, monuments and castles join in the fun with a program packed with free good deals and unusual events.
Each edition also invites us to push open the doors of places usually closed to the public! As you can see, missing out is out of the question! See you on the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025 for the next Journées du Patrimoine in Paris and the Île-de-France region.
Are you looking for a cultural bargain in the heart of Montmartre? This picturesque village-district is a real favorite with Parisians both young and old, with its distinctive atmosphere and numerous curiosities. And what better way to soak up the Montmartre vibe than at the Musée de Montmartre and its Renoir gardens? It's a good thing that this spot, which immerses us in the history of this historic district, is unveiling its program for the Journées du Patrimoine in Paris.
Christine Amblard takes visitors on a tour of the Vieux Montmartre archives, enabling them to discover the wealth of our documentary holdings.
Jean-Manuel Gabert, president of the Société d'Histoire et d'Archéologie du Vieux Montmartre, gives an enlightening tour of the museum's collections.
The permanent collections look back at the history of the Butte, the effervescence of its studios, from the Bateau-Lavoir to the Atelier Cortot, and the atmosphere of its famous cabarets, from the Lapin Agile to the Moulin Rouge. One room is dedicated to Montmartre's emblematic artists, while another showcases the dreamlike shadow theater that made the Chat Noir cabaret famous.
This conference is organized by Isabelle Conte, director of the Société d'Histoire et d'Archéologie Le Vieux Montmartre, and musicologist Michela Niccolaï.
Michela Niccolaï will share her expertise as a musicologist, presenting the public with a selection of archives from Le Vieux Montmartre's holdings.
Isabelle Conte will explore Montmartre's influence on student culture in the Latin Quarter, presenting the École des Beaux-Arts anthem, an adaptation of a song by Aristide Bruant.
It will also present the exhibition-dossier, and discuss the digitization of Bruant's scores, which can be consulted on the Bru Zane Foundation database.
