Calling all curious art and history enthusiasts: one of the most eagerly awaited cultural events of the autumn season is back in the Paris region! On the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) will offer you an exceptional program of visits, often free of charge, and original events at some of the most beautiful sites in France. Numerous cultural venues will be taking part: monuments, museums, churches, institutions, gardens and even places that are usually closed to the public!
In Paris and the Île-de-France region, we're preparing a supercharged program. While the capital is usually the epicenter of this type of event, the Journées du Patrimoine are also an opportunity to explore the lesser-known heritage of the Ile-de-France region. Located on the outskirts of Paris and just a metro ride away, the town of Issy-les-Moulineaux, in the Hauts-de-Seine, is one of those places steeped in history that's well worth a visit, thanks to its extensive program of tours and events. So, would you like to discover the treasures of Paris' inner suburbs? Find out more about the events scheduled for this 42nd edition.

Wine is still produced on the chalky hillsides bordering the Seine, and stored in nearby quarries transformed into cellars, under the auspices of the venerable Saint-Vincent brotherhood.
In 1893, our commune added "Moulineaux" to its original name, to emphasize and strengthen its ties with this slightly out-of-the-way hamlet. Nestling between a steep hillside to the south and the Seine to the north, it would long retain a distinct identity. What evidence of this remains today? What new faces have been added over the years?

Heritage Days 2025 at Vaugirard station in Issy-les-Moulineaux
### To mark European Heritage Day on September 20, 2025, come and discover the Vaugirard station in Issy-les-Moulineaux!
A key site for flood prevention on the Seine. A guided tour and fun activities on water await you for a unique behind-the-scenes look at wastewater treatment!
In concrete terms, how does it work? :
* In normal operation, when the Seine is not in flood, and if the combined sewer in the area (wastewater and stormwater) does not reach the "high level", the threshold valve associated with the plant is maintained at a fixed level, to prevent any wastewater being discharged into the Seine in dry weather.
* Following a major rainfall event, when the Seine is not in flood, but the combined sewer network in the area (wastewater and stormwater) has reached the "high level", the threshold valve will open, discharging the excess wastewater and stormwater into the Seine. This is designed to prevent flooding in the area.
* When the Seine is in flood, i.e. when the water level has risen above a certain level:
* The threshold gate closes, to prevent the Seine from entering the sewer system.
* In the event of a high level in the sector's combined sewer system (wastewater and stormwater), the station's inlet valves open automatically to feed the station's pumping reservoir. Once the level in the reservoir has reached the pump start-up level, the pumps are activated to pump the water into the Seine. This is designed to prevent flooding in the area during periods of high water.
Duration of visit: 20 minutes (wear closed shoes).
