What's on in Montreuil for the Journées du Patrimoine? We reveal the special tours planned for the weekend of September 20-21, 2025.

Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) take place in Paris, and the least we can say is that it's THE event not to be missed in the Ile-de-France cultural calendar. Even though the Journées du Patrimoine take place all over France, Paris is home to the most visited monuments: the Senate, theNational Assembly, certain ministries... All of which are extremely popular, since these places of power only open their doors once a year, on these very special days. However, the rest of theÎle-de-France regionand the Paris suburbs are not to be outdone, with visits and events on offer in every corner of the region.

In the Seine-Saint-Denis department, Montreuil is one of the cities most appreciated for its living environment and proximity to Paris. With its rich industrial heritage, Montreuil's heritage is as rich as it is varied, as the town is also famous for its film studios. Discover Montreuil from every angle during the 41st European Heritage Days, from September 20 to 21, 2025!

"Ten years after the death of Tignous, and three years after the great Tignous Forever exhibition, I wanted to go beyond the forever and offer Tignous eternity. Far from commemorations, grief, hatred and revenge. An eternal Tignous that resembles him: a demanding and flamboyant contemporary artist, funny and profoundly tender, who left his mark on his era and will inspire generations to come, for the better!

The concept of the exhibition is a series of invitations in the form of dialogues, with some fifteen personalities: artists, authors, people from the art world and committed personalities, who will be transcribed in the form of a sound podcast in front of each hanging.

The guest is also invited to lend one of his or her personal works, or to make a reproduction, or to lend a narrative object (a work belonging to him or her) in relation to the text of the interview, with Tignous, with his story or their meeting, etc. The choice of guests is linked to their common history, their sensibility and the relationship they had with Tignous, in order to propose a collective history and a sharing of current views and a great contemporary art exhibition."

    ### Historic monuments in Seine-Saint-Denis

From the Middle Ages to the 20th century, the Seine-Saint-Denis region was home to a wide variety of buildings. Whether through their construction techniques, the materials used, the use of pioneering or innovative building models, or the renown of their architects, they are all part of our cultural heritage today.

The Grange aux Dîmes in Tremblay-en-France, the Church of the Old Carmel in Saint-Denis, the Château de Saint-Ouen and the Poudrerie in Sevran are just some of the Monuments Historiques on offer.

Heritage Days 2025 at the Murs à Pêches house in Montreuil

  • Les murs à pêches, between past and future
    Saturday, September 20, 2025 - 10:30 ⤏ 12:00

The City of Montreuil invites you to take part in this visit, which is part of its project to enhance and preserve the Murs à Pêches site, while at the same time opening up this natural area to the public.

Your guides will take you along these paths and tell you about the history of these walls, a legacy of trellised fruit tree cultivation: thanks to them, montreuillois horticulturists were able to produce peaches in an unfavorable climate, supplying the Halles markets until the early 20th century. At their peak, the peach orchards covered a third of the city, i.e. over 300 hectares, with 300 km of walls!

The guides also talk about the issues involved in the gradual restoration of the site, which is listed as a site and landscape by the French Ministry of Culture: the restoration of the walls, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Fondation du Patrimoine - Mission Stéphane Bern, as well as the development of the biodiversity trails, a project led by the local authority to create a network of pedestrian paths providing access to the heart of this natural area.

And then, between the walls, you'll discover the gardens, several of which have been awarded the "remarkable gardens" label, as well as the variety of associative activities on the site.

    Garden soil analysis workshop

Gardeners (associations, residents) will have the opportunity to have soil samples from their garden analyzed. To do so, they will take soil samples themselves, following a simple protocol drawn up by Cerema. These samples will be analyzed on site, within the capacity of Cerema's equipment.

The city's environment department will also be on hand to present, with its partner SecurAgri, the approach developed in 11 plots at Murs-à-Pêches to maintain and develop urban agriculture in a context of polluted soils.

    Mozin'Arts, multidisciplinary art days

    --------------------------------------------------------

    ### + info

Mozin'Arts unfolds in Mozinor's hanging gardens, like a labyrinthine, unpredictable trail, featuring works created in situ: sculptures, installations, photographs, performances, concerts and workshop-laboratories.

Disciplines intersect, French and international scenes intertwine, and generations engage in dialogue. The project affirms a desire to break down barriers and bring together institutional artists and fringe figures, collectives and amateurs, art students and self-taught artists.

Initiated by visual artist Véronique Bourgoin and musician-composer Jeanne Susin, and supported by La Fabrique des illusions, the first edition of Mozin'Arts took place in September 2024, as part of the European Heritage Days. This contemporary art event drew almost 4,000 visitors and more than sixty artists, and presented an ensemble of around one hundred and fifty works, accompanied by 11 concerts, 4 performances and 6 workshops.

Mozin'Arts is a vehicle for questioning contemporary issues, testing the potential of art as resistance, transformation and reparation. The public is invited to stroll along the entire roof terrace, where works of art, concerts, performances, meeting spaces, workshops and mediation take place.

The installation program, curated by Véronique Bourgoin in collaboration with artists, independent curators, institutions and Royal Book Lodge, offers a fertile dialogue between media.

For the 2025 edition, young visual artist Popline Fichot has been given carte blanche to bring together thirteen artists from the emerging French scene for a collective site-specific installation project. The Bibliothèque Kandinsky - the research and resource center of the Musée national d'art moderne - Centre Pompidou - will take over the library-boat designed by matali crasset, inviting the public to explore a selection of artists' archives and books. At the same time, the Box Crew breakdance collective will be running participatory hip-hop workshops open to all, while designer Alioune Ménard will be presenting a fashion show showcasing his latest creations.

This polyptych by Guillaume Bottazzi is in five parts. It illuminates the cathedral entrance to the Georges Méliès residence in Montreuil. Two other works by the artist have also been created on this site.

These works are part of a global approach that integrates various site-specific parameters, such as their height of over 5 meters. They are made from enamels, a natural material made from powdered minerals. The atmospheric quality of this creation facilitates our reconstruction, inducing us to travel into an unreal, enchanting universe that evolves according to our imagination.

Visible to passers-by from Avenue Faidherbe, this work can modulate new neurons.

2025 is the year of mental health, and visual artist Guillaume Bottazzi invites us on a gigantic artistic journey with 86 heritage artworks to be discovered all over France as part of the 42nd European Heritage Days. 61 of these are in Paris and the Greater Paris area.

Guillaume Bottazzi is recognized as a pioneer of neuroesthetics, which brings neurobiology and art into our environment to help improve our mental health and reduce social tensions.

The artist has created over a hundred heritage works in Europe, the United States, China and Japan, commissioned by cities, museums and architects. They are part of the architectural heritage of the places where they are located.
