    ---------------------------------------------

How can we mobilize our imaginations to care for the sea? All the artistic proposals expose its beauty, or its degradation, and trigger questions about our behavior.

The Grap's collective continues its cycle on the subject of environmental change, this time focusing on the maritime world, in connection with the national project "L'année de la mer - La mer en commun". The artists in the collective are proposing a series of creations designed for this event. The aim is to mobilize our public around the importance of maritime issues, and to inspire them to take action for the ocean.

The exhibition is part of Auvers-sur-Oise's cultural program, whose theme this year is The Imagination in Art.

  • Van Gogh in Venetian Masks. The art of Sergio Boldrin.

Sergio Boldrin knows Vincent Van Gogh's face well, as the artist himself bequeathed it to posterity in his famous self-portraits. He has observed the facial features, the use of color and the pictorial gestures marked by the brushstrokes of the Dutch master. He looked at photographic portraits, and it was with Van Gogh's face that Boldrin began his great Venetian mask project on the artist's life. As he went along, sculptural sketches of the face in clay gave rise to four different versions of the self-portrait, which would later be declined in multiple variations of color and tone.

The faces will also be used in compositions as full busts or placed in frames and painting palettes. Boldrin is a Master Mascavero, using the ancient method of making Venetian masks in papier-mâché.
