What to do for the Journées du Patrimoine 2025 in Île-de-France? The Paris region has no shortage of great ideas for outings during this key cultural event in September. Museums, monuments, castles, churches, libraries and much more take turns to showcase the region's heritage from every angle.
History, art, fashion, gastronomy, craftsmanship, medicine- there's a program for every passion during the Heritage Days. And it has to be said that, in addition to Paris, the rest of the region has treasures that deserve to be discovered. So, for this 42nd edition of the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), we invite you to discover the beautiful heritage of the Ile-de-France region, particularly in Seine-et-Marne , where a number of towns are taking part. The European Heritage Days allow special activities for school groups on Friday, September 18, under the banner “Raise Your Eyes.” Since the garden sits in the heart of the city’s historic core, it’s possible to set up a simple activity that invites students to “read the 1692 cadastre, on site” (historic walls, architectural traces of the Monks’ Farm in Saint-Denis).

Perrault’s Festival, a magic-lantern storytelling spectacle
The Smile of Grandpa presents: The Perrault Party, a lantern-light storytelling show that revisits three Charles Perrault tales. Once upon a time, Peggy-Maude, the storyteller, Mademoiselle, the lantern, and you, the audience, who for the occasion will be invited to provide the sound effects just like in the old days. Come with the whole family to discover the lively world of tales from yesteryear, where illustrated stories happily come to life to the rhythm of words and sounds.

Visit to the Monks' Farm in Saint-Denis
As part of the European Heritage Days, Terre de Vert invites you to step into local history: join this stroll through the historic heart of Vert-Saint-Denis. Starting from the Terrain du Vivier, on Rue Dionet, you’ll reach the Jardin Terre de Vert, where you can rediscover the remnants of the old farm’s hold. You’ll also get a rare view of the church, which you’ll visit next, alongside Gérard Bernheim, former mayor and guardian of the town’s history.

An exhibition will also shine a light on the old reading primers, those precious childhood companions that helped us all learn to read.
