The Hôtel de l'Industrie, nestled in the heart of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district of Paris, is a historic and prestigious building dating from 1823. Conceived originally to host exhibitions and gatherings centered on the era's industrial and scientific progress, the hotel quickly grew in importance, becoming a meeting place for engineers, inventors, and entrepreneurs, and playing a crucial role in spreading industrial innovations across France. The venue opens its doors for the Journées du Patrimoine 2026 by offering a guided tour.

Today, the Hôtel de l'Industrie remains a hub for thought and dialogue, hosting conferences, cultural events, and exhibitions. It also houses the Société d'Encouragement pour l'Industrie Nationale, an institution founded in 1801 that champions innovation and the advancement of industry. On the occasion of European Heritage Days 2026, the Société d’Encouragement pour l’Industrie Nationale invites you to a guided tour of the Hôtel de l’Industrie.
Following in the footsteps of Jean-Antoine Chaptal, Louis Pasteur, Gustave Eiffel, Marie Curie, and Peugeot, discover a venue steeped in history. It’s in one of the Hôtel de l’Industrie’s rooms that the Lumière brothers screened their first film, a landmark moment in 1895 that gave birth to the cinema industry. The site has long hosted the political, social, and cultural life—and, at times, the festive life—of the neighborhood and the Left Bank. Today, it continues that tradition.
